OPKRPG 2.0

Hey you all!  After a year of designing, playtesting, arguing, finalizing, and more than a little bit of fighting and praying, here it is.  The Origional Pokémon RPG.  Notice the 2.0--we had 1.0 ready December '98, but we argued over it so much, we decided to start over from the beginning.  (Not as if my timely typing skills helped any--Arc)  The new version has just minor changes from 1.0, but the "minor changes" are in such number that the two are incompatable.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy.  (I always wanted to say that :)

August 3: Updated certain Pokmons stats, added Nidorino, Nidorina, and Magikarp, and fixed the link to the move list.

OPKRPG is unique in that: the characters define the statistics, not the other way around.  When you make a character, you first get an character idea, then you make the numbers that surround him or her.  That's why OPKRPG is uniquely suited to the task at hand--for the world of Pokémon, roleplaying, not numbers, are the important part.  In other words, if you're a min/maxer, stay far, far away, because we don't want to deal with those who'd rather calculate than roleplay.  Keep that in mind as you go through our guided statistic generator.

In the way of equipment, OPKRPG is fairly light.  You'll need dice, of course, with both ten and six sides.  Three D10's and six D6's will serve you well. Percentile tens, like Chessex's, are great, since you'll be rolling percents.  And, if you can't add two two-digit numbers fast in your head, a big-key big-digit calculator is also a great resource.  And, oh yeah, other players!  One Narrator and two to five players works best under normal circumstances.

Well, now that you have your character, you'd like to know what you can actually do.  :Here is a rather bland explanation of how to settle things, from skill tests to Pokmon Battling.

There is one, sad, truth. Not all of you will be able to enter the world of Pokmon at the same time. One of you needs to assume the role of Narrator. That person is the one who is going to pre-plan adventures for you, make the world around you as you explore it. For that unfortune sap--err, that is, intrepid artist--there's an area under construction with help and hints, here.

If for some reason you want to link directly to the files, hit the appropiate link to view the skills list, Advantages list, Pokmon list, and TENATIVE fighting moves list..

Arc here. Notice how dry these pages are? Yeah. If you have art you'd like to put up here, or know of an archive that'd let us use their art, please pass it along. Also, if you have ideas, comments, Pokmon to include or skills to add, feel free to tell me! Just send it to me at [email protected]
